Rita Bean is Professor Emeritus, University of Pittsburgh, School of Education. She taught graduate courses in the Reading Education program and also served as Director of the Reading Center. Her research focuses on the role of the reading specialist and literacy coach. She has also conducted evaluation research on school reform efforts, especially related to reading instruction.
