Deborah Rowe is associate professor of early childhood education at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. She is currently putting her research on the beginnings of reading and writing to work in 13 urban, prekindergarten classrooms, as the co-director of a U.S. Department of Education funded Early Reading First project.
