Dr. Victoria Purcell-Gates
Canada Research Chair for Early Childhood Literacy
University of British Columbia

Victoria Purcell-Gates holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Early Childhood Literacy at the University of British Columbia. She studies literacy development across school and community boundaries and develops literacy curriculum intended to increase the achievement of marginalized students. She co-directs with Kristen Perry the Cultural Practices of Literacy study at the University of British Columbia, a collection of case studies of literacy in practice in communities around the world.

Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) Baker is a Professor of Literacy Studies at the University of Missouri. Dr. Baker's research interests include integration of literacy and technology, new literacies, future literacies, 21st century literacies, multimedia case-based instruction in teacher education, and sociocognition in teacher education, literacy, and new literacies.
