Dr. Michelle Honeyford
Assistant Professor of Language and Literacy
Faculty of Education, University of Mannitoba

Michelle Honeyford is an Assistant Professor in Language and Literacy in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba where she teaches courses in English Language Arts, Language & Literacy, and Qualitative Research in the B.Ed., M.Ed., and Ph.D programs. Her research interests focus on understanding how learning is mediated by students’ cultural identities and how ways of knowing and learning privileged in schools can be expanded to include and represent diverse youth more effectively, particularly through writing, multiliteracies, and critical inquiry. Dr. Honeyford taught English Language Arts in the middle and senior years in both the U.S. and Canada. She has conducted research on programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education, National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, National Science Foundation, and MacArthur Foundation. Dr. Honeyford received her Ph.D. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Dr. Sarah Vander Zanden
Assistant Professor
Literacy Education Division, University of Northern Iowa

Dr. Sarah Vander Zanden is an assistant professor at the University of N. Iowa in the Literacy Education Division. Her work focuses on critical literacy practices, language use in instructional contexts, formative assessment, and multimodal discourse analysis.
