Allison Skerrett is an associate professor in the Language and Literacy Studies program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The University of Texas at Austin. She teaches and conducts research on adolescents’ literacy practices and secondary English education in contexts of racial, cultural, and linguistic diversity. Her publications appear in the American Educational Research Journal, English Education, Journal of Literacy Research, Reading Research Quarterly, Research in the Teaching of English, and Urban Education, among others. Dr. Candace Kuby is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Missouri. Her scholarship focuses on: 1) critical, inventive, hybrid, and multimodal literacies and 2) innovative qualitative research methodologies. Candace is the author of "Critical literacy in the early childhood classroom: Unpacking histories, unlearning privilege"(2013) with Teachers College Press and co-editor of "Disrupting Qualitative Inquiry: Possibilities and Tensions in Educational Research" (2014) with Peter Lang. Journals in which her scholarship appear include: International Journal for Qualitative Studies in Education; Young Children; Journal of Early Childhood Literacy and Education, Citizenship, and Social Justice.
